This past weekend, Hoosier Access and RepublicansRadio.com teamed up again for an entertaining show that included a lively conversation with Ryan McCann of Veritas Rex and the Indiana Family Institute and Bil Browning of the Bilerico Project. What a great conversation! We were supposed to discuss the upcoming General Assembly, but as was probably to be expected, we focused most of our time discussing SJR-7 (aka the Marriage Amendment).
While Bil, could have felt as if he was being thrown to the wolves, so to speak, in this highly charged conservative atmosphere, those of us who were there sat back and watched Ryan and Bil argue the merits of SJR-7 and its place during a short session that is destined to be occupied with property tax legislation.
Ryan said that it is possible to legislators to do more than two things at once, while Bil argued that there is a law already on the books, has been challenged (the challenge lost), so why do we need an amendment. Ryan countered that after 16 years of Democrats in control of the governors mansion, the state courts have been “packed” with potentially activist judges.
Mostly, my co-host and I, as well as the other guests, just sat back and watched these two guys duke it out. No matter where you stand on SJR-7, it made for great radio. We hope to make these guys a monthly feature.
We followed that up with former City-County candidate Bruce Henry talking about his experience on the campaign trail, his work with Mayor-Elect Greg Ballard on the transition team and addressed the rumor of him running for congress in the Indiana 7th. Did we get an answer from him? You’ll have to listen to the show.
We closed to the show talking to bloggers Jacob Perry of the Circle City Pundit, Sir Hailstone of the Digital Farmers blog as well as surprise guest, former council candidate Adam Longworth, about the other candidates who have thrown their hats into the ring for congress in the 7th. Make sure to check out the shows at RepublicansRadio.com!
