I just got this email from the Congressman Burton campaign.

In my years in Congress, I’ve spent a lot of time defending our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. I’ve got a record of standing up against those who would like to force us to register our handguns or take them away entirely. It’s a record I’m proud of.

That’s why I’ve created a new website, www.gunownersfordanburton.com to highlight what’s at stake in 2008. In Iowa, we’ve heard from the Democrats who want to be President. They are a threat to our 2nd Amendment rights. Even some moderate Republicans have joined Democrats in opposing our gun rights. I need your help to continue to stand up against the special interests in DC and tell them we want to retain our rights.

Also, the Supreme Court has agreed to rule on the Constitutionality of the gun ban in Washington, DC. In 2007, I sponsored the District of Columbia Personal Protection Act (HR1399), to restore 2nd Amendment Rights to residents of Washington, DC. I hope you’ll join me in hoping that the Supreme Court chooses to uphold the rights of gun owners in our nation’s capitol.
