As you may know, State Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Lakeville) recently started a new political action committee, The Patriots’ Project. The PAC states as its goals to “Educate Patriots on the rights guaranteed to them in our Constitution” and “Support candidates whose goal it is to promote Liberty and Freedom.” Great stuff with admirable goals.
Word is also that the folks at the Patriots’ Project PAC have begun marketing Walorski as a Lincoln Day speaker across the state. What do Lincoln Day speaking engagements usually hint at? Statewide or congressional candidacies.
Walorski has been rumored as a possible 2nd Congressional District candidate against Democrat Joe Donnelly, which could be attractive in what should be a good 2010 cycle for Republicans. But could a statewide Lincoln Day circuit tour mean that Walorski is also exploring support for a 2010 Secretary of State bid? Remember in 2008, Greg Zoeller was on the Lincoln Day circuit meeting local committeemen and party officials long before Steve Carter announced his intention to not seek re-election. That tour gave him a decided edge over Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas in winning over delgates later that year.
Keep an eye on this as a potential hint at the possible aspirations of one of Indiana’s rising stars.
I hope you’re right, would be great to get solid conservative female Secretary of State candidate. On the other hand if Jackie is looking at running against Donnelly that’s a tough road and she’ll need a ton of money … but 2010 may be just the opportunity.
Thomas at Blue Indiana loves the idea too: http://www.blueindiana.net/showDiary.do?diaryId=3694 he may enjoy some feedback … Hey thomas by the way, who were you proposing to face off for Sec State? Oxley?
Wondering why the Patriots project used a rumpled up old grocery sack as their website background graphic.
Good question. Maybe it’s supposed to mimic the old paper the constitution was written on? Really, I’m just guessing here.
