Oscar Wilde once said that “life imitates art far more than art imitates life”.  Yesterday’s vote by the House to approve of the health care legislation proves the old saying.

Democrats burst out in applause as soon as the vote count ticked to 218, the minimum number of votes needed for passage.

….

Democrats cheered out a new year’s style countdown as the voting period came to a close.

  1. Don’t you believe in majority voting by Representatives anymore? When Tom Delay ran the show, 218 certainly was good enough!!! Of course, sometimes he kept the clock frozen for hours to cajole that magic 218. (*cough*MedicarePartD*cough*)

    • Ah, something we can agree on. Just because I’m a Republican doesn’t mean I always agree with my party. And this is one instance where I have never agreed with Tom Delay’s antics. Even my boss says it was wrong and it’s one of the reasons he voted against it. I don’t play by the rule of “just because my party did it once means it’s okay”.

  3. The quote that comes to my mind is by Twain; “Suppose you are an idiot, and suppose you are a Congressman; but I repeat myself.”
