Bio: Luke Stephen Abbott grew up in nearby Hobart, IN, where he received his high school education.

Growing up in a family where his parents are full time ministers, it taught Luke many things.  First and foremost he was taught that your morals are the most important item you have.  He was taught that the moment you do not keep your own morals than you lose yourself and a piece of whom you are.

Growing up in a family where his parents were full-time ministers taught Luke the utmost importance of morals.  He learned that when a person is not true to his own morals, he loses a part of who he is.

At the age of 18, Luke enlisted into the Indiana Army National Guard because he felt the responsibility to serve the country that gave him freedom.  He served for a total of 5 years and 10 months.  During that time, he served one tour of duty in Mosul, Iraq for 11 months until being medically evacuated to Germany and then eventually the States.  After receiving two Purple Hearts for wounds received during combat, Luke spent the next nine months in physical rehabilitation state side until he was given an honorable discharge by the U.S. Army due to his injuries.  Since his release from service, Luke has been a proud member of Pipefitters Local Union #597 and has been contracted to B.M.W. Constructors Inc. at the  B.P. Refinery in Whiting, IN for the past three and a half years.

Luke Abbott resides in Demotte, IN with his wife Marissa of seven years and his two sons, Luke Jr. and Ethan Benjamin.   He is running for office because he is eager to serve the people of District 19 with the same desire and passion with which he served our country.

Luke on the issues:

(Read more after the leap)

Fiscal Conservative: Luke believes in Fiscal Responsibility and believes that each bill that arrives on his or any other elected officials desk should be read with careful consideration.
Infrastructure: Luke believes that maintaining our state roads, public buildings, bridges and public schools should take priority and something we should not neglect.

Education: Luke believes Education is the key to defending our future, we will only get out of what we put into our Children.

Small Government: When a government finds itself growing, a common reaction is to raise taxes to support it.  I believe that, if anything, taxes should be reduced because it forces the government to refocus on what most important.  It also places the spending power in the taxpayers’ hands and, in turn, improves the economy.  The more money taxpayers have at their disposal, the more houses and vehicles are purchased and the more consumables are sold.

Indiana Constitutional Property Tax Caps: Luke believes that Property taxes must be protected and laws regarding them should be made a part of the Indiana Constitution. This will keep government small and will leave more money in the hands of taxpayers.

Small Business: Luke believes that small businesses need the tax breaks that they deserve. Small businesses help maintain the health of our local economy.

Life and Family: Protecting the family and the innocent is the right thing to do.

  1. I don’t know Luke Abbott personally, but am hearing great things. We may have a contested primary though, haven’t heard yet if candidate from two years ago is running again.
