5th Congressional District Candidate Brose McVey is utilizing social media attacking his opponents, mainly Congressman Dan Burton. Previously, McVey attacked Burton for the amount of non-Indiana money that is going into Burton’s congressional campaign fund. Never mind the fact that in 2002 when Brose McVey ran for Congress in the 7th Congressional District against the late Julia Carson, as much if not more money from out of state donors flowed into McVey’s campaign fund. What happened between 2002 and 2010 that made McVey suddenly find religion in fundraising? Is it the fact in 2010 he can’t raise hardly anything compared to his fundraising in 2002? Just this week McVey attacked another challenger for accepting donations from a Democrat-heavy labor union.
McVey has also joined the clarion call from his fellow challengers demanding debates from Congressman Burton, knowing full well he’s holding town halls throughout the district with constituents (ergo, the voters themselves) instead of bickering with numerous other candidates looking for a 30 second sound bite. Two of his town hall meetings were streamed live on the internet for all to see and to submit questions to the Congressman via email. That, my friends, is true transparency unlike another congressman who has a “no taping” policy for “his town hall meetings” because people don’t “tell him how to run his congressional office”.
Today, McVey posts this to his Twitter:
“House Dems drop “deem and pass” gimmick! Still time to kill the job-killing, freedom-stealing health care mess! Where’s Dan Burton? #tcot #redin”
I’ll tell you where Congressman Burton is. He is in Washington DC trying to stop this mess, that’s where he is. He held TWO town hall meetings today via video conference. He’s held eleven town halls around the district since August reaching out to thousands of constituents, and he plans to hold three more before May 4th. All of this in addition to his regular duties representing us in Washington DC. The Congressman was planning to host his own town hall meeting today however Nancy Pelosi had other plans.
Then later McVey posted this tidbit: “Life is funny. Thousands flocking to “Naptown Roller Derby” at Fairgrounds today as I hit the gun show. Meanwhile, 12 attend nearby town hall…luv it.”
Today’s town hall in Fishers had about 100 people in attendance, including yours truly.
What are you doing, Mr. McVey?
“I’m trying to remove and hang a pre-hung, outside door (trying to win back SOME style points). Easy, right? Listen to this: “…make sure the sill is in contact with the caulking and that the hinge jamb is level.” And, later…”from the inside, level and shim the hinge jam…” HUH? “Honey, can we call a …..” Uggggghhhh. My ego is taking a real hit.” – posted to McVey’s Facebook last night.
Ego? How about your poll numbers? One comment left to that post scored a three pointer from half-court with this: “Put down the scotch and turn the directions right side up” – ZING!!!
It would appear that Mr. McVey has as much integrity in telling the truth as the Indianapolis Star.
