So now we know why…
…property taxes are so high. According to the Indiana State Board of Accounts, a Gary school shelled out money for an all expense paid trip to Nashville, TN for 4 students and a teacher. The trip was billed as being for a job fair but yet each student stayed in their own $175 a night room at your expense. Additionally, an expensive cruise dinner and various souvenirs were also purchased at taxpayer expense.
Perhaps the killer was the iPod Nano purchases that the school made for the 4 students. A total of $1,168.00 was spent on that purchase.
Hopefully this will motivate you to hold your local school corporation accountable. Part of what is driving property taxes up is the unbridled spending on the part of our schools. I’m all for having a good schools, but not at the expense of a good education.

Good grief, how could they possibly justify that (the iPods in particular!)????
