Note to bloggers: if you are looking for an easy way to generate some quick traffic, just put the words “Andre Carson” somewhere in your blog. I’m getting an average of ten hits per day from google or yahoo! searches on “Andre Carson”. Hmm…

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve long believed that Julia Carson’s grand plan was to have her grandson replace her, and take up her mantle as champion of Indianapolis (yes, that title is sarcastic). I had lunch with a good friend last Friday and I mentioned that to him, and he remained extremely skeptical.

Monticello Mayor could lose office

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Robert Fox, a two term Democrat Monticello Mayor, is facing felony theft charges because of false travel expense reports he filed. If the plea agreement is accepted by the judge, Fox will lose his office, but will not serve any jail time.

A swift stroke of a pen Tuesday, affixing the signature of Robert Fox to a proposed plea agreement, put to rest for many residents seven months of speculation regarding the culpability of the embattled Monticello mayor.
Signing a plea negotiation, Fox attached with it a preliminary affirmation of guilt to four Class D felony charges of theft, stemming from claims of falsified travel expense reports turned in by the two-term mayor.
Though the plea agreement has yet to face a court of law, playing out in the court of public opinion, the terms of the agreement have already been met with a bevy of responses - a mixed bag of emotions regarding the supposed fairness of Fox’s deal.
As terms in the agreement, Fox would serve zero jail time - three years in the Indiana Department of Corrections replaced with three years of probation. Fox would also be required to pay restitutions owed to the City of Monticello, which had previously been calculated by investigators to be $2,482.83.
