Marion County Democrats just don’t get it do they? First it was BartPeterson.com. Then, it was MonroeGray.com. Now, ThePetersonPlan.com has sprouted up.
This would seem to be common sense, but the first thing you do in the internet era in politics, is register every possible web domain so your opponents don’t take advantage of the situation. What’s could possibly come next?
The UK newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, has been posting a list this week of the most influential U.S. conservatives and liberals (not historically, but looking forward to the future). They have been teasing us by only dripping out 20 from each list each day–Monday the published 81-100; Tuesday 61-80; etc. Now I do not put too much credence to this list or their order. Some examples of people on this list that I don’t think should be there:
#28 Dick Morris
#33 Andrew Sullivan
#38 Jack Abramoff (though they are right that he may still play a part in the 2008 election)
#39 Drew Carey
#47 Joe Liberman (who appears on both the liberal and conservative list)
#59 Laura Bush
#89 Senator Larry Craig
There are others that are WAY out of sequence:
#1, #2, #9, #10, #11, (too long to list all of these–mostly current Presidential candidates)
#21 President GW Bush (like him or not, he is still relevant)
#62 Antonin Scalia
#85 Clarence Thomas (both justices I believe have a more profound influence on conservatism)
But I am quite pleased to see that they have named our own Mike Pence to be #19 on their list of most influential conservatives.
Congratulations to Mike.
I would be interested to hear anyone’s reaction to the list…
Who do you think are the most influential conservatives?
Polis Politics breaks down Bart Peterson’s web of untruths and misinformation in his attack ad against Greg Ballard. For a guy who was known as the “Teflon Mayor” as recently as the May primary, his year and his campaign have degenerated into misstep after misstep against someone who was hardly regarded as a formidable opponent just a couple of months ago while completely misjudging the tenor of the electorate.
Here’s a brief section:
While most of the news stations were airing pieces on Mayor Bart Peterson’s ad on the Indianapolis Star endorsement, which is highly critical of Republican Greg Ballard’s experience, Bart Peterson was airing an even nastier ad, trying to paint Ballard as wanting to raise taxes and cut public safety.
That’s right. Bart Peterson wants us to believe Ballard, not him, has a record of raising taxes and poor public safety. Let’s roll the transcript:
“What do we really know about Greg Ballard? In a time of financial crisis, Ballard proposed a new $100 million dollar government building.”
Fact Check Point 1: This item comes from the WISH-TV debate. Jim Shella asked what should be done with the old Market Square Arena site, which has gone undeveloped since the old arena’s demolition. Fred Peterson proposed a park, Bart Peterson high rise condominiums, and Ballard proposed a criminal justice center. No price tag given; no timetable for building it. That was his preferred use for the site.
Read the rest of their breakdown here.
My county chairman asked me to pass this on, and I was more than happy to oblige.

It appears as if there is still trouble afoot in the Marion County Clerk’s office. I’m hearing that some people are getting ballots with the wrong district information (i.e. Ward and Township don’t match up with where they live). Apparently, some voters are also getting their ballots after the mail-in date has passed thereby forcing voters to go down to the City-County Building to straighten things out just so they can still vote.
Now, I’m not saying this is true. If it is, it could just be a few isolated incidences and maybe the problems have been taken care of. But could anybody confirm if this is happening to them?
