As you know, I was able to be a guest on Abdul in the Morning on WXNT last week. For those of you who didn’t get to hear it, get ready to bask in some blogger punditry goodness!
Thanks to Abdul’s producer, Chris Spangle, for the invitation to be a part of the morning show.
According to the Indystar.com, Republicans on the City-County Council in Marion County are setting up their leadership:
According to a source with knowledge of the decisions, longtime Councilman Bob Cockrum will be the new president when the GOP takes over the council in January. Kent Smith, elected to an at-large seat last Tuesday, will serve as vice president. Lincoln Plowman will be majority leader and Ryan Vaughn will serve as majority whip.
I’m a little surprised Mike Speedy isn’t part of the new leadership team. Sir Hailstone got it right though when prophetically claimed the new president would be Bob Cockrum. I knew Mr. Cockrum was the longest serving Republican left on the council, but I didn’t think he had it in him to be Council President.
What’s more impressive is that Kent Smith, a retired Marine like Mayor-Elect Ballard, has been chosen to be Council Vice President. That’s heavy duty work for a freshman councilor.
The new leadership is a healthy mix of older councilors and newer ones, so we’ll see how well they work together.
