Never Say Never
Fresh off his unexpected loss, the Indy Star is reporting that soon-to-be-former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson’s name is being floated around as a potential candidate to run in Indiana’s 7th Congressional now that Congresswoman Julia Carson will not be seeking re-election.
From today’s Indy Star:
With Julia Carson’s decision not to run for Congress again now official, will Mayor Bart Peterson run to replace her in the 7th Congressional District?
Probably not, according to the mayor, though his comments don’t close the door to the notion entirely.
Just a couple of weeks removed from his stunning defeat by Republican Greg Ballard, Peterson said it is “very unlikely” that he would run for Carson’s seat.
Peterson said politics right now are “secondary to my concern about her and my feelings for her.”
But he did acknowledge there’s no getting around the politics of the situation.
“Now that the word’s official that the seat will be open at the end of this term, people are going to start to run. The important thing they all should remember (is) to do so in a way that honors Julia Carson,” he said. “By that, I mean recognizing the way she conducts herself.”
In the same article it’s mentioned that sales Greg Ballard’s book “The Ballard Rules: Small Unit Leadership” have shot through the roof. Way to go Mayor-Elect Ballard! Could Oprah’s book club be next?

Uh-huh. Uh-huh. What did I say? He’s thought about it, being very coy. We could only hope he uses Mike O’Connor for a campaign manager. Talk about not being able to campaign out of a paper bag. What’s his record now?
Oh yeah. Mikey’s oh-fer-two.
