Just Announced Today
Greg Ballard announced today at a reception at the IFD Union Hall that former Marion County prosecutor Scott Newman has been named as his Public Safety Director. This is a bit of a surprising move considering many thought that former PSD under Bart Peterson, Robert Turner was going to be named PSD under Ballard.

A reporter asked Mr. Newman and the Mayor-elect about Mr. Newman’s association with the DNA laboratory. Mr. Newman gave the reporters assurances he is not participating in the day to day operations and he will not personally profit from the firm’s operations.
Mayor-elect Ballard also stated to the media for the first City-County Council meeting the proposal to move IMPD to the Mayor’s control will be introduced.
