Where’s the Beef?

Remember that classic Wendy’s ad from the 1980’s? You know the one with the old lady asking “Where’s the Beef?” That commercial reminds me of the vapid messages that Barack, Hillary and “Diamond Jim” Schellinger are delivering all around Indiana these days.

  1. Great memories… and now I feel old BTW.

That commercial is from 1984. Clara Peller the “where’s the beef” lady died in 1987.

And let’s not forget the “Where’s the Beef” song featuring Clara … you can take a listen at http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2007/07/365-days-206—.html

    As for some real beef:

Anyone think Hillary is embarrassing herself by staying in the race or will the ObamaPastor fiasco let her win the last few states and save some face?

Anyone else notice the call going out in the past 24 hours for increasing the powers of the FED ?? Are they kidding??? (unfortunately not).

And how about Obama talking openly about a need to jack up the capital gains tax rate?

Stop the world, I want to get off… ;-)

  2. Henry Hazlitt mourned 30 years after the first edition his masterful Economics In One Lesson rolled off the presses that since that time politicians had learned nothing inspite of the fact that more and more economists had come to realize that liberal economics had failed.

The Democratic primary, and the policy proposals and “solutions” emanating from the candidates proves that if a nation does not learn from its failures, it is doomed to repeat them.

If John McCain is to win this fall against Barack Obama (Hillary, please stay in to bleed your base dry, but to be truthful, you just don’t have a chance at winning) he will need to focus on the nuts and bolts of policy and really paint Obama as the empty suit he is. Obama, when he gets off the stumps of Hope and Change and comes out with a policy proposal, is just the ghost of the Keynesian economists who exacerbated the great Depression through their foolish ideas that defied common sense and good economics.
