Monday, April 28th, 2008

Amber Alert issued for Indiana. Information is at the link HERE.

The website Amber Alert describes a Kia as the getaway vehicle, though the alert just broadcast through Comcast cable describes the abductor as driving a stolen Gray Pontiac Montana (which is a mini-van).

I’ll Get You, My Pretty and Your Little Dog Too!

Monday, April 28th, 2008

wickedwitch-431x300jpg.jpgMarion County Democrats really are a funny bunch aren’t they? Apparently County Chairman Mike “I screwed over Bart Peterson” O’Connor recently sent out a letter to the Ward and Precinct Officials barring them from handing out any literature on election day that promoted any other candidate, other than Andre Carson, for Congress. He also wants Democrats to rat out any people who pass out literature in favor of Carolene Mays, David Orentlicher or Woody Myers. Below is a portion of the letter sent out to the Democrat Ward Chairmen and Precinct Committemen:

I know that all of you will do your utmost to make sure that our slate carries on May 6. The party will be closely monitoring the situation at the polls on Election Day to make sure that our precinct and ward officials are passing the slate. I urge all of you to let us know if you hear of any party or elected officials not distributing the Democratic Party slate or distributing something other than the official slate.

Why? So they can be run out of the party? Excommunicated for thinking for themselves and voting their conscience rather than what the party told them to do? This is why slating is dumb and went the way of the dodo in all but two of Indiana’s counties (in case you’re wondering, Lake is the other county). Heaven forbid the Marion County Democrats actually promote democracy in an election! O’Connor must be really scared that Carson might actually lose the primary.

A Couple Things to Note…

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I want to alert you guys to a couple of blogs up in Howard County that deserved your much coveted attention. First of all we have Mallot’s Blog. This guy hits the point, but is funny at the same time. Secondly, we have “Right Thinking“. He currently has a pretty interesting political quiz up on his blog right now. You’ll be surprised at some of the answers.

Also, since we’re promoting other conservative blogs from around the state, I want to encourage those of you who are on Facebook and haven’t signed up to sign up for the Official Hoosier Facebook Group. Good stuff going on there! Also, make sure to subscribe to our RSS feed, either by email or the traditional way.

And thanks for keeping on coming by to check Hoosier Access!

Can Someone Tell Me What Credibility the Star Has Left?

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I’ve not been one to really lash out at the Indianapolis Star for their editorial board’s obvious leftward tilt. Mostly because I know that fewer and fewer people are actually reading the Star. It’s not because of any particular bias people may believe they have, but because of the internet age. There are places to go to get the facts the Star leaves out. But it’s editorialist and columnists like theirs that make people take less stock in what they have to say.

Such is the case with today’s most over the top editorial against Congressman Dan Burton. They start of by calling the Congressman “shameless”. I’m sure there are those who would agree with the statement, but the fact that the Star has been essentially out to get the Congressman since he was first elected is shameless in and of itself. They’ve also carried the water for his far less qualified opponent for months leaving no one surprised by their latest diatribe against Indiana’s senior congressman. Frankly, if it was only Clayton Alfred who was running against Burton this time they’d probably do just as much to help him in their mission to take out Burton.

Indiana Voter I.D. Law Upheld

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Oh, you know the Democrats are royally ticked right now. (Start the Democrats chorus of the packed, right wing, Bush court in 3…2…1…)

According the Indy Star

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to deter fraud.

Howey Has Self-Induced Obasm

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Either glassy-eyed or doe-eyed, depending on how you look at it, Brian Howey reminds all of us about just how great, really great, really, the Obamassiah is.

All you have to do is just drink the Kool-Aid, as Howey has, and you’ll see, really you will.

Behold, the glory of the Obamassiah.

He just walked into Indiana, and the whole state felt the joy of the Obarapture and millions of Hoosiers cried out in relief at the pleasure of their collective Obasm.

Now if only he could actually win…

It’s Time for a New Style of Leadership

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Editor’s Note: A local newspaper in the 2nd Congressional District asked the 2 CD Congressional candidates to submit an op-ed piece on why they are running for Congress.  Below is Luke Puckett’s op-ed that appeared today.

By: Luke Puckett

My name is Luke Puckett and I’m running for Congress in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District. As a small businessman, father, and citizen I’m running for Congress because I believe that we need common sense solutions to the challenges facing our country. The status quo in Washington needs to change and the actions of this Congress offer us no hope that real change is imminent.
