Hoosier Access Radio

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Recorded the night of May 6th from Congressman Dan Burton’s victory party. First Congressman Burton addresses the crowd then sits down with Josh and Adam for a short interview.

The remaining segments of Hoosier Access Radio, including the infamous Weird Pro Blogger Hour episodes are going onto iTunes. We apologize in advance for some of the audio quality - we thought we found a perfect place that was quieter for recording. That turned out not to be the case. On top of that we found cellular laptop cards don’t work there. “Internet - Lost!” to paraphrase an at&t wireless commercial.

Governor Endorses Mayor Jon Costas for Attorney General

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I just received this letter that was sent to Republican State Committee members today.

May 11, 2008

State Committee Members,

With the primary election behind us, I wanted to write to you regarding the upcoming 2008 Indiana Republican State Convention where we will nominate our candidates for Lt. Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction and Attorney General.

I once again look forward to running and continue serving with our Lt. Governor Becky Skillman. Becky is a trusted and valued partner in our administration. She has done as much as any Hoosier to put Indiana back on track. It is simply not possible to believe we would have accomplished as much as we have these last three and a half years without Becky as our legislative quarterback.

Hey, What Happened to that So-Called Live Blog?

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Two words: no connectivity!

My lessoned learned from moving to a different location?  To scout the new place out to make sure I have a signal so the live blog will actually work.

My deepest apologies to those who stopped by the blog to participate in a live chat that never was.   These are the little kinks that we’re working out as we try new things.  But I promise you, it will work better next time as we will be at a place with a signal.

That said, we still recorded the podcast and the segments will be up in the coming days.

Mockery, thy name is Cobra Commander. (I love trips down memory lane.)

YouTube Direct

I’m telling you, this concept can’t be made fun of enough. That said, I actually think the original was one of the coolest things ever done for a presidential candidate. Anyway, let’s open thread this post!

Post Primary Wrap Up Show on Hoosier Access Radio

Friday, May 9th, 2008

It’s that time again folks! It’s time for a little Hoosier Access Radio. Normally we do these podcast recordings the first Saturday of every month, but since last Saturday was the last weekend to campaign, we put off the show a week so we could talk about what happened Tuesday night.

The Blogger Roundtable will include discussions on:

  • What are JLT and the state Democrats to do now?
  • Why won’t Hillary turn her key?
  • What can Republicans do to minimize losses nationally
  • ….and of course, talk about what happened Tuesday night (including Tony Zirkle getting 6,000 votes?!?!?)

We’re also going to try an experiment on making this interactive. So we’re going to open this podcast up as an interactive live blog as well. It works like Instant Messenger. So here are the details:

  • We’re recording at a new location (Ft. Harrison VFW Post 7119)
  • We’re recording at a different time starting at 6:30pm (b/c of pole day at the track)
  • We’re live blogging right here on HA while recording so everyone can participate
  • If you can’t participate in the live blog, just leave your questions in the comment section in this post.

Catch it all tomorrow night!

Walorski on “Change”

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Anybody tired of hearing the mantra of “change” over and over without ever hearing what that change would be? For the last month we’ve heard the same empty message of change from presidential candidates and gubernatorial candidates, all of them Democrats, but have we ever asked ourselves what that change would be other than a different person in that particular office? So what is “change” exactly? Republican State Representative Jackie Walorski discusses in her recent blog post on Capitol Letters, what that represents.

It’s been fascinating to watch and listen to the Presidential candidates talk about “change”. Barack Obama is basing his entire campaign on “change”. I’m not sure if he’s talking about “change” for the sake of “change” or what, because he’s never really spelled out what exactly he would do to “change” anything in this country.

But, it’s equally interesting to read the editorials of several newspapers around Indiana. In Northern Indiana, the newspaper tone has been instructing it’s faithful readers to “embrace change” and to vote against Hoosier incumbents in November. Is that “change” for the sake of “change”? As a legislator, I’ve been involved in helping move Indiana forward in many areas. Indiana now leads the Midwest in job creation, we have our own “Big 3″ auto makers, employing thousands of Hoosiers. Our State has gone from bankrupt to having a cash balance on hand. We went from one of the worst child abuse States to one of the best in child protection. These “changes” weren’t easy.

Help a Fellow Blogger in the Battle Against Leukemia and Lymphoma

Friday, May 9th, 2008

violetribbonux7.jpgThis is off the political trail a bit, but I wanted to throw this out to our readers and fellow bloggers. Fellow blogger and friend, Mark Warner, is running his first marathon in Chicago, but is doing so to help in the battle to fight leukemia and lymphoma.

It’s a good cause and I would ask that you consider helping Mark out. The information is below in an email Mark sent out.

Hi there!

I am starting an amazing journey. I have committed to run my first full marathon (26.2 miles) in Chicago this October. To make this an easier experience for me and to help others, I am raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a participant in their Team In Training program, and I’m asking you to help by making a donation to my fundraising campaign.

Team In Training will support me as I train and even during the marathon with encouragement and people to literally run alongside me. In turn, I am helping them fight the battle against Leukemia and Lymphoma by raising money. Would you be willing to help me accomplish the huge goal of running a marathon along with fighting these awful diseases?

See my web page here.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS’s mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

IU Alumni: Support a Conservative for Trustee

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

blockius.gifI received this email today from Jim Holden addressed to IU Alumni.

Dear Conservative and IU Friends,

Do you believe IU needs a change from the same tired old left-wing administrators that have brought us such things as the Gay Culture Center, the Kinsey Institute, harassment of military recruiters, the banning of Christmas trees and handgun ownership in addition to spiraling tuition costs, a politically correct campus environment and a floundering athletic department?

Now is your chance to make a difference!  Once a year in May, all IU alumni (anyone with ANY IU degree from ANY campus) are eligible to vote in for an alumni member of IU’s Board of Trustees.  This year a solid conservative, Kelly Burton Smith, is a candidate for IU Alumni Trustee!  She needs your support if she is going to defeat the incumbent, a far-left trial lawyer from Evansville who is also a left-wing talk radio host.  Kelly is an intellectual property attorney in Indianapolis.  She holds a law degree from IU -Indianapolis and will make a great Trustee!  You can see Kelly’s candidate profile at http://www.alumni.indiana.edu/about/election/candidates/smith.shtml

Congrats Robb!

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I’ve had my beef over the years with how the Marion County Republicans are run and how the current and past chairmen have handled things, but Tom John made one of his smartest moves ever when he named Robb Greene the MCRCC’s newest executive director.  Congratulations Robb!

Jillary - Post Primary

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

What a mess the Democrats are in right now. Hillary was supposed to win Indiana by a large enough total so that that nagging voice to concede in her head (i.e. the DNC) would go away and she could continue to campaign for president. And “Diamond Jim” Schellinger “Rocks!” was supposed to win the gubernatorial primary and make JLT go gently into that good night. Well, neither happened. Now post Indiana primary, Hillary is furthering her self induced national embarrassment by issuing racially insensitive remarks to USA Today, and the state Democrats are stuck with a candidate for governor who is broke and no one in the party structure even wanted running, much less winning.
