Jillary - Post Primary
What a mess the Democrats are in right now. Hillary was supposed to win Indiana by a large enough total so that that nagging voice to concede in her head (i.e. the DNC) would go away and she could continue to campaign for president. And “Diamond Jim” Schellinger “Rocks!” was supposed to win the gubernatorial primary and make JLT go gently into that good night. Well, neither happened. Now post Indiana primary, Hillary is furthering her self induced national embarrassment by issuing racially insensitive remarks to USA Today, and the state Democrats are stuck with a candidate for governor who is broke and no one in the party structure even wanted running, much less winning.
(Read more after the leap)
But since JLT did win, the talk is now who is going to choose as a running mate. Her LG running mate is the only way Democrats have a prayer for “healing”, so to speak, with Jill Long Thompson. Mitch Harper of Fort Wayne Observed notes that Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel is a potential pick:
Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jill Long Thompson is in Evansville today and speculation exists that she will be asking Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel to consider joining her on the ticket at the Lieutenant Governor candidate.
Mr. Weinzapfel has been touted as a rising star in Indiana Democratic politics since he won election as mayor. Mr. Weinzapfel also has legislative service that would be important given that Ms. Long Thompson’s experience has been in municipal and federal offices.
Early prognostication says that “Mayor Whiny” is a good regional pick as JLT represents the northern portion of the the state and Weinzapfel the south. But that could be the only good news for Long Thompson the rest of the way as she has major ground to make politically and financially.

It’s probably b/c it’s a you tube clip with just audio of the quote. Mitch Harper has the quote on his site.

I guess I am dense. I don’t see talking about demographics as being “racially insensitive”. Pundits have been pointing the same facts out.

While I actually agree with you Joel, the fact a candidate said it, can be construed as racially insensitive. And I don’t think I’d be doing my job as a conservative blogger if I didn’t stoke that flame a little.
Goodness knows the liberals would react in a similar fashion if McCain said something like that.
