ZOELLER FIRST TO FILE FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 9, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA) - Greg Zoeller, the chief deputy to Attorney General Steve Carter, filed his Declaration of Candidacy with the Indiana Republican State Committee today seeking the nomination at the convention June 2^nd. Zoeller, who has served in the office since 2001 has traveled to each of the 9 districts in the state visiting with Republican party leaders of the 92 counties. “There is considerable support within the party for a continuation of the strong leadership in the Office of the Attorney General and they feel I am uniquely qualified and best positioned to be the Republican nominee in the fall,” Zoeller said.

Zoeller, who announced his intention to pursue the nomination April 11^th, has received the endorsements of 3 of the districts; the 8^th and 9^th districts that make up the counties in the south and west central area of the state and the 3^rd district in the north eastern portion of the state. A native of southern Indiana who has lived in Indianapolis since 1991, Zoeller attributed some of his support from the years he served with Dan Quayle in the Senate and his years as the Vice President.

From 1982 to 1991 Zoeller served in the office of Indiana’s Senator, Dan Quayle in Washington and Indianapolis as the state director and later as the Assistant to the Vice President for Public Liaison. In 1986, Zoeller served on the reelection campaign of Senator Quayle who defeated Jill Long-Thompson that year. “Much of my support comes from the grassroots network of supporters of Dan Quayle that are ready to help me and the Republican Party defeat Long-Thompson again so we can continue moving the state forward under the leadership of Governor Mitch Daniels.”

In announcing his intention to seek the nomination the former Vice President said of Zoeller, “Greg served the people of Indiana by my side in the Senate and the White House for ten years. I am please he is seeking the Republican nomination for Attorney General as a continuation of his commitment to serve Hoosiers.”
