Puckett Pushes for Energy Independence
If you listen to talk radio or read some of the national conservative blogs, you may have heard of the American Solutions Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. petition drive to bring attention to the fact that we need to be drilling for domestic oil if we’re serious about lower gas prices and energy independence. Yesterday Luke Puckett, who’s running for Congress in the 2nd District, sent out this press release regarding the American Solutions issue campaign and the need for increased domestic drilling:
SOUTH BEND, IN – Luke Puckett, Second District Republican nominee for congress, continued his push today towards energy solutions by encouraging Second District voters, including Rep. Joe Donnelly, to sign the American Solutions Pledge that calls for domestic oil and gas exploration.
“The price of gasoline isn’t getting cheaper. Our dependence on foreign oil isn’t decreasing,” Puckett said. “And yet Washington isn’t doing anything about it. This is why I am encouraging Second District voters, including Joe Donnelly, to sign the American Solutions Pledge that calls for domestic oil and gas exploration.”
(More after the great divide.)
American Solutions is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to provide real and significant solutions to the most important issues facing our nation by rising above gridlocking partisanship and bickering. The Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. campaign has already received more than 10,000 signatures from Americans across the country demanding solutions from Congress for rising energy costs.
“With no end in sight to the rising cost of energy, the continued pain we feel at the pump, and the inevitable effect it will have on our home heating bills in the fall, Joe Donnelly, the Democrat leadership in Congress, and the extreme environmental lobby refuse to do anything to help families deal with the out-of-control cost of energy,” Puckett said. “In fact, their answer has been to prohibit domestic exploration and continue the status quo.”
“The rising cost of energy not only affects the cost of gasoline, but also affects the cost of groceries and everyday goods families need. There is available oil in Alaska, Montana, Colorado, North Dakota, and even off our coasts. Tapping these reserves would increase production and drive down costs. Joe Donnelly should stand with Hoosier families instead of the misguided Democrat leadership and extreme environmental lobby and call for domestic exploration,” Puckett said.
