Meet Mike Sodrel

Monday, June 30th, 2008

image001.jpgFormer (soon to be future?) Congressman Mike Sodrel (9th CD) just launched a brand new website, www.meetmikesodrel.com.

From the Sodrel campaign’s most recent press release:

This new website, created by Sodrel’s daughter, is designed to get “up close and personal” with the candidate and his family. The website includes portions of his new book, Citizen Sheep, Government Shepherds , yet to be released. There are numerous family pictures, a blog with posts from the candidate and his family, and a look into Mike and his wife Keta’s growing up years, their journey together through more than 40 years of marriage, and their shared faith and family values.

“I’m excited about the launch of this new website,” said Sodrel. “Through pictures and stories, voters will get added insight into me and my family’s background, and the experiences that have shaped our life and philosophy. I encourage everyone to check out this new site,” Sodrel concluded.

Word Has It Waterman/Jehl May Have Broken 500 Signatures Statewide!

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Whoa!! Stop the presses! In their frantic efforts to get the required 33,000 signatures to get on the November ballot, the John Price led team of Waterman/Jehl may have acquired an astounding 350 signatures in Allen County Angry White Boy, Dan Turkette, is reporting. In addition to the 150 mentioned earlier, that will bring them to a total of a whopping 500 signatures. Looks like that Taxpayer Party will be popping the cork to their champagne in 3…2…1…never!

Waterman/Jehl failing at signatures

I just called voter registration to inquire how many signatures Waterman/Jehl turned in today. It’s public information. Instead of just telling me, after they found out who I was I was put on hold. I’d give odds that they asked Andy (I never met a democrat I didn’t like) Downs what to tell me. They got back on the phone and transferred me to Deb Morrone and I was sent to voice mail.

All I was trying to do was confirm what a very reliable source had already told me. They turned in approximately 350 signatures. When you consider that Allen County is the third most populous county in the state, that won’t get it, now will it?

A Peek Into H.A.Radio Podcasting

Monday, June 30th, 2008

g_00006007.jpgTaking a page out of the Book of Spangle (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right?), Hoosier Access will be introducing a new aspect to our podcasts next month. We will be broadcasting them live via webcam! A huge thanks, from the Hoosier Access Radio department, goes out to Mark Warner who so graciously donated two webcams to the cause. They are equipped with microphones, so there is chance you will also get to hear us do our interviews as well. I’ve tested them out and they are very cool.

The interactive party is just beginning! Stay tuned!

If you would like to help us out in improving our site, please feel free to click the orange donate button over the to the right (just above the Hoosier Access media section) or click the link here.

What’s that Line From Happy Gilmore?

the-price-is-wrong-copy.pngPetition signatures to get on the Indiana ballot as an independent third party? Rounded up, 33,000.

Petition signatures that the John Price led candidacy of John Waterman for Governor has at this point for today’s deadline? 128 certified according the Indiana County Clerks.

Frugal Hoosiers has more:

As of Friday, Indiana County Clerks had received a total of 128 certified signatures for Sen. John Waterman, leaving him just about 33,000 votes short of the 33,000 votes needed to get him on the ballot in his race for governor. That’s about four per day since he announced. At this rate, Waterman will qualify for ballot access in December of 2030. He’ll be 86 years old.

Ouch!

As FH reminds us, it looks like the Price is Wrong…!

I mean really, did anybody take this candidacy seriously? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Pastrick Case Going to Trial; Linda Pence Still Running Away from Her Record

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Poor Linda Pence.

She’s still trying to run away from her record and from a certain interesting omission about her past history that she made in the first days of her campaign.

Pastrick’s sidewalks-for-votes case has been green-lighted to go to trial, and Pence is still denying that the case matters.

She is still refusing to take a strong stand on prosecuting corruption, even when the corruption might involve fellow Democrats.

Protesting I-69 is fine, but uncivil behavior is not.

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Imagine for a moment that opponents of abortion were marching in downtown Bloomington, and a motorist claims the protesters hit his car and complains. Further imagine that the local newspaper’s web site featured three protesters facing off with the motorist - with two of the protesters looking like gangsta wannabes with bandannas covering their faces to hide their identity. An intimidating image? I think so. Well, you can stop imagining now and instead look at the photograph below from the Herald-Times web site:

But, you see, the marchers were not protesting abortion, they were protesting Interstate 69. If they were protesting abortion, you would see prominent anti-abortion figures in the community saying that is not an acceptable way to protest the killing of unborn children and you would see advocates of “reproductive choice” loudly condemning the intimidating behavior of anti-abortion protesters.

Jackie Walorski Responds to SCOTUS Ruling

Friday, June 27th, 2008

State Representative Jackie Walorski (R, HD-21) released this statement on yesterday’s ruling by the Supreme Court on DC v. Heller, the 2nd Amendment case.

I am absolutely elated with the US Supreme Court’s decision to stand on the side of our forefathers and our citizens’ right to bear arms. What a major win today! If you haven’t taken a moment to celebrate, please do…these kind of wins don’t come that often.

Being a major proponent of the 2nd Amendment, I am grateful that the right decision came down as it did. I have authored significant pro-gun legislation in Indiana, including Indiana’s Lifetime Handgun Permit and I couldn’t be happier. The right to bear arms and to protect ourselves, our families and our properties is a monumental cornerstone of the US Constitution. Whenever an elected official starts talking about “banning” guns or supporting “gun free” zones, it’s time to worry. When that happens, the ONLY people with arms are criminals who aren’t obeying any laws, let alone gun laws.

In light of this ruling, I again applaud the South Bend Common Council for dropping their idea of banning guns from city owned property in the City of South Bend, Indiana. Today’s ruling reinforces their decision as the right one.

Obama helping a Republican senator

In every Presidential Election year, each Party’s candidate helps others. Obama’s name is likely to help several Democratic candidates down ballot, but what about a Republican?

Mike Sodrel on Lowering Gas Prices: “Yes We Can”; Baron Responds: “No, We Can’t”

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Mike Sodrel had a press conference on Thursday to lay out a series of ideas on what can be done not just to lower gas prices but to address America’s energy crisis also.

More drilling and more incentives to develop new technology, among other things; real ideas to address a very real problem.

Baron Hill, meanwhile, has proposed more government regulation, more taxes, more lawsuits, and more political gimmicks that accomplish nothing.

Help Kill the Fairness Doctrine

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Congressman Mike Pence wrote this over at Red State.

Hey folks,

I wanted to drop by and let you know we could really use your help on an issue that I’m sure is important to most of you:  freedom of speech on the airwaves.

Yesterday Speaker Pelosi said she wants to bring back the Fairness Doctrine.  Here is the critical exchange between her and John Gizzi:

“Do you personally support revival of the ‘Fairness Doctrine?’” I asked.??“Yes,” the speaker replied, without hesitation.

Click here to read the whole story where Speaker Pelosi says it’s in the “interest of my caucus” to bring the Fairness Doctrine back.

From my years in radio and television, I have long battled the specter of the so-called ‘Fairness Doctrine.’ This archaic relic of a bygone era would bring back government control over political views expressed on the airwaves.  In short, the Fairness Doctrine is a threat to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and every other conservative talk radio show host in America.
