A New Hoosier Access Feature - Ask the Gov!
What would you ask Governor Mitch Daniels if you had the chance to ask him one question? Hoosier Access is proud to offer up it’s newest feature, “Ask the Gov”. Each week, we’ll take questions from our readers and pass them along to Governor Daniels. You can ask about different issues from around the state, what his agenda is for his next term, how the campaign is going…I think you get the picture. Just click on the graphic over in the next column to submit your question. We hope to make this a regular feature. Your involvement will make that happen.
To get the ball rolling, we asked Governor Daniels the first question. Our question was:
“How would you explain the status of Indiana’s current economy in relation to what’s going on nationally and in our neighboring states?”
(See the governor’s response below the fold)
We would also like to thank Governor Daniels for taking part this project.

“The conservative from southwestern Indiana’s Sullivan County said he has chosen Glenna Jehl of Fort Wayne to be his running mate for lieutenant governor. She was the campaign manager last year for failed Fort Wayne Republican mayoral candidate Matt Kelty.”
There’s a name to be throwing around….
“Waterman needs to collect more than 32,000 signatures before June 30 to get on the November ballot as an independent.”
Uh-huh. 1600 signatures per day? Better get scribblin’
“He says he thinks he can get that done with help from people who belong to groups that oppose abortion rights and those who want to repeal property taxes.”
Soooo…. a carbon copy of what Andy Horning is saying, only he’s running as a Libertarian. Sounds like the perfect candidate for the HFFT crowd. That is when they aren’t spotting black helicopters flying overhead.

You guys…if you really want to know what I think of Waterman look at the comments I left over on Abdul’s blog. While I have an appreciation for what Price has done for property tax activism, I don’t like his politics…not one bit. And I won’t be signing any petition for Waterman.
Did you know that inspite of all the work I’ve done for property tax activism, (probably more than anyone other than Dave Bond) John Price ignored my request to join the repeal alliance. That’s because I’m a sinning female dominant and my colorful past disgusts him.
If he is behind Waterman, I can only believe that Waterman will compromise personal freedom and support Price’s christian right agenda. That is scary.
QUESTION FOR THE GOVERNOR:
Please show the public the math that you used to come to the conclusion that neither of the two economists who put together plans for property tax repeal have viable plans to eliminate our broken and unfair property tax system.
Please show us how the Indiana Constitution allows for the state to tax our property to pay for schools.
And while you are at it, please explain the Indiana’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and tell us why it is written in such a way so that even the economist Bill Styring cannot understand its math. (I fully expect to be ignored on that request…so surprise me.)
