John Rich (of country duo Big & Rich) Pens Country Song For McCain

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

On the heels of rapper Ludacris releasing a obscenity and insult laced tirade supporting Barack Obama calling President Bush “mentally handicapped” and wanting John McCain paralyzed, country music star John Rich will debut a tune supporting John McCain at a concert in Panama City, Florida. John Rich is not ashamed of who he supports for President. He has John McCain’s campaign website linked right on his website.

The Lyrics as posted to John Rich’s website:

Well we’re all just raisin’ McCain
Everywhere across the USA
You can get on the train or get out of the way
We’re all just raisin’ McCain

The Waiting is the Hardest Part

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

And for good measure here’s Senator Bayh’s theme song, “Waiting”, thanks to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

(Youtube is being a pain and not allowing any of their videos to be posted for some reason)

Someone Needs to Double Check the Hoosiers for Hill Email List

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I just received the following email from someone in the Baron Hill Campaign. See my response to their email below.

Richard,

I am the Republican Chairman in Whitley County (northeast Indiana). I am not sure how you got my email address but I support Mike Sodrel for Congress 100%. He is a great American and someone who voters can count on to be a statesman unlike Congressman Hill who continues to reveal himself as a liberal politician over and over again.

Mike Sodrel for Congress!

Jim

Subject: Hoosiers for Hill office opening!!!

Dear fellow Hoosiers for Hill,

My name is Richard Atnip, and I am a Field Organizer for the Hoosiers for Hill campaign. First off, I wanted to extend my sincere appreciation for all the work you did on behalf of Baron Hill’s campaign in 2006, it certainly made a huge difference. Secondly, I would like to invite you and your friends and family to our office opening at 509 Spring Street in Jeffersonville on August 5, at 6 p.m.

Jonathan Hall gave me your contact information, and spoke very highly of each one of you, and of your accomplishments in 2006. I wanted to reach out to you personally to ask for your help again this year as we approach November.

As you know, the congressman faces another challenging election against a well-funded and highly organized Sodrel campaign.

You have the chance once again to play a key role in re-electing Baron Hill. We have lots of volunteer opportunities. Whether it is making phone calls or canvassing door to door; whatever you can do, whenever you can do it, we’d love to have your help.

For those of you I haven’t already met, I look forward to the chance to do so. If you cannot make the office opening, but would like to volunteer please reply to this email. Or, feel free to call the Clark County Democratic headquarters (812) 725-7385, or my cell phone at (502) 552-3547 and we will work out the details.

Thank you so much for your time and efforts,

Richard Atnip

Rothenberg on Montagano: “More Like an Overly Enthusiastic Undergraduate Running for Class President than a Member of Congress”

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Exerpted from a much longer piece in the Rothenberg Political Report about Democrat long-shot races in heavily-Republican districts:

Everyone knows about the 40 to 50 GOP House seats at risk this cycle. But what about those lower-tier contests that some consultants and bloggers are pushing?

Does Mike Montagano (D) really have a chance in Indiana’s 3rd or Steve Sarvi (D) in Minnesota’s 2nd?

Talk of a 30-plus seat Democratic year is overblown. Even though many factors favor Democrats, the party would need to win solidly Republican districts to get that kind of gain, and that’s a daunting challenge. Partisanship still matters a great deal.

If [Michael] Skelly were running in a competitive district [TX 7], I’d think he’d have a good shot. But he isn’t. Texas’ 7th gave George W. Bush 64 percent in 2004 and regularly delivers big numbers for Republicans, making it a nightmare for any Democrat.

If you really think Skelly has much of a chance, ask yourself this: Do you really think that Republicans could beat Reps. Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.), Barney Frank (D-Mass.) or Grace Napolitano (D-Calif.) even in a bad political year for Democrats? Of course not. Yet their districts went for Kerry in 2004 by roughly as much as Culberson’s Texas district went for Bush four years ago.

Montagano and Sarvi? Sarvi has no money ($98,000 in the bank on June 30) and Montagano, 27, who has raised an impressive amount (probably with some family help), seems more like an overly enthusiastic undergraduate running for class president than a Member of Congress.

Obama Airs McCain Smear Ad

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I just saw it myself for the first time just now on Fox 59. The Obamassiah stated in the ad during McCain’s tenure in Congress we’ve become more independent on foreign oil, and gas prices have increased exponentially while McCain voted “against alternative energy”. B. Hussein also stated in his ad what could be considered a slight towards Sen. McCain’s age by stating “McCain has been in the Senate for 22 years”. Meanwhile B. Hussein Obama has only served in the Senate for going on 4 years now, courtesy of the Chicago Tribune.

Obama’s plan includes “energy independence” by drastically increasing auto efficency,  increasing spending on vaporware “alternative energy” and just to sell it all to John Q. Public, a mere $1000 tax cut for “middle class families”. By the way, I’ve figured it up and I’ve spent well over $1000 more on fuel since the Dems took over Congress than before.

When B. Hussein Obama talks about energy independence, he really doesn’t mean it because he opposes drilling in ANWR and off the coasts. He’s rather let the Chinese come in and get to it horizontally from Cuba [Yes, I know they aren't doing it yet but they'll surely try it soon].

“Drastically increasing auto efficency” means new vehicles will resemble Renault’s Le Car or the Yugo. Remember those rolling junkyards?

Increasing spending on alternative energy means passing the loot among friends such as Algore. Don’t forget to buy your carbon credits from Al while you’re at it.

And it’ll all be better with a $1000 tax cut. Puh-leeze.

Ackerson: where’d all my support go?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

What do you do when you hold a press conference and no one shows up?

If you’re Nels Ackerson, you just keep on talking.

Check out the picture from the event: you will see Nel’s is speaking, but there’s no one there in front of him listening…

A “friend” of Indiana’s Hardball even brought me photographic proof.

Ackerson held a supposed press conference in Zionsville earilier this week (on Tuesday) where he falsely attacked Congressman Steve Buyer’s long record of support for veterans.

I know… I was thinking the same thing.

Our “friend” reported that no press showed up and the only people that were there was Nels, members of his staff, five veterans, the guy who took the picture, and two people who wondered up from the nearby walking path.

And I think the two people only stopped because Ackerson blocked the path in the park.

So, let’s ask why is it that no one showed up?

Mike Sodrel Speaks With Blue Grass, Red State About ANWR Trip

Jefferson Poole of Blue Grass, Red State, a blog located in Louisville, Kentucky, was able to get a quick audio interview with 9th CD Candidate Mike Sodrel about his recent trip to Prudhoe Bay and ANWR.   He also gets Mike’s thoughts about Evan Bayh being on Barack Obama’s short list for VP.

Interesting Observation Of HD94

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I was sent a scan of a campaign flyer of Cherrish Pryor, Democrat candidate for HD94, and being the political hack I am I looked it over carefully. At first glance it seemed to be broad generalities. Upon closer examination I see that a lot of items listed as her “issues” were the exact issues put out by her Republican challenger Chad Miller. Is Cherrish Pryor so devoid of ideas she finds it necessary to find inspiration for her ideas from her opponent?

Keep in mind, Chad Miller had his website out there with much of this material posted near the time of the primary in May.

Thoughts on the First Long Thompson Ad

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well, here it is. It’s not quite as negative as some had initially implied; more like a ham-fisted attempt to run the 2004 My Man Mitch campaign in reverse, but with the optimistic parts surgically removed and replaced with far-lefty liberal talking points.

Town Of Speedway Wants To Restrict Motorcycles During Races

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The Town of Speedway led by Town Manager (and former Bart Peterson flunkie) Barbara Lawrence wants to pass an anti-motorcycle ordinance “in time” for the Red Bull MotoGP event in September.

The ordinance seeks to ban “loud pipes” on motorcycles in the Town of Speedway, but the kicker is the ban will only be enforced during IMS events, the 500, the Brickyard 400, MotoGP, and if it were to return - Formula One.

A pipes ban being enforced during MotoGP weekend makes about as much sense as a subwoofer ban being enforced during Indiana Black Expo…. oh wait a subwoofer ban would be construed as racist we can’t have that now can we……

Nice going Town of Speedway let’s chase away the motorcyclists from the largest motorcycle event in Indiana.
