2nd CD Update: Luke Puckett’s Upcoming Trip to ANWR

Monday, July 7th, 2008

As announced on Hoosier Access Radio, Republican Congressional candidate Luke Puckett (2nd) is taking a trip to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and seeing for himself the very spot of oil drilling which is a hotspot of contention in Congress. I heard a new term on CNBC last week that was actually said by a financial analyst discussing nuclear energy but the phrase seems to apply to attitudes of the left these days - BANANA. It was someone opposed to something like this was “NIMBY” which stood for “Not In My Backyard”. However these new age leftists are getting concerned about things nowhere near them hence the new term BANANA - “Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything”. These folks are opposed to everything just to be opposed to it. These are the same folks who have hijacked the Democrat Party.

I don’t have a link anywhere to it but some Moonbat caller to the G. Gordon Liddy radio show (XM166) insisted the oil in ANWR “was no good and was all going to be sold to Japan as asphalt” and that “offshore drilling kills wildlife in California” and the Moonbat was insisting offshore oil drilling would spoil his view of the ocean from the shore. Seems funny, after the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico were nearly tipped over during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita they did not leak one bit of oil into the Gulf. The oil rigs are also 30-50 miles offshore.

Linda Pence Misleads Again (Big Time) on Pastrick Sidewalks-for-Votes Case

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Big post, but worth reading.

It’s a new week, and it wouldn’t be a new week without Linda Pence being caught in something.

Usually, it’s some sort of embarrassing failure to disclose her record, like how she was an outside counsel (when attacking the attorney general’s office for hiring outside counsels).

Or when she said she knew nothing about the infamous sidewalks-for-votes case involving former East Chicago Mayor (and Democrat National Committee member and superdelegate) Bob Pastrick (when it turned out she was a litigator in the case for over a year).

Or when she complained about the costs of the outside counsel in that case (when her client settled for twice what the state has paid for the outside counsel).

Or how about her fundraiser at the law firm corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff called home before he went to prison?

Or perhaps her unbelievably either wrong-headed or misleading criticisms of the Pastrick case itself?

And who can forget her whining to reporters that she’s “against public corruption”, something that should never even be in doubt with any candidate for attorney general?

But now comes the latest effort by Linda Pence to mislead Hoosier voters.

Republican City-County Council Clerk Goes To Jail!

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Yep. You read it here first. Melissa Thompson, the Clerk of the Indianapolis Marion County City-County Council is going to JAIL! However unlike Democrat City-County Councilors Doris Minton-McNeill and former At-Large Councilor Ron Gibson, she is going to jail for a really good cause. She really needs your help in raising bail money. This is the “jail and bail” fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and she would very much appreciate any contributions to help her “make bail”.

Now as far as the other clowns like Doris Minton-McNeill, Ron Gibson, and Monroe Gray - they REALLY need to be in jail.

Who (Not What) is in Jillary’s Wallet?

Monday, July 7th, 2008

slimmy-wallet.jpgWhen challengers run against incumbents, one of the things they scrutinize is where they are getting their money. They know that constituents can always get upset if they are accepting foreign (read: out of district or out of state) money.

What tickles me, is that in the case of Jill Long Thompson, she who wishes to actually challenge Governor Daniels in November, the majority of her second quarter numbers, 55.4% of her war chest isn’t coming from Indiana. In fact, it’s coming from Washington, D.C. of all places.  While over 75% of Governor Daniels’ second quarter numbers come from right here in the Hoosier state.  And what of the first quarter?  The State GOP put out this press release:

Unable to attract support from the people she hopes to represent, Democratic candidate for governor Jill Long Thompson is relying almost entirely on out of state special interest groups to fund her campaign. In the first quarter of 2008, more than 75 percent of her funding came from donors outside of Indiana.

With 70 percent coming from Washington D.C., alone, Indiana Republican Party Chairman Murray Clark said it is obvious who Jill Long Thompson would represent as governor.

“Jill Long Thompson should change her campaign name from ‘Hoosiers for Jill’ to ‘D.C. Special Interests for Jill,’ because Hoosier’s don’t appear to be supporting her campaign,” Clark said.

So who’s in Jillary’s wallet? Second quarter finance numbers won’t be available until July 15th, “…but according to her supplemental filings, she has received $805,000 from out-of-state sources in the second quarter of 2008. Washington D.C. based groups EMILY’S List and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) have contributed $700,000 of that sum.”

So as a voter, you have to ask yourself, if ultra-liberal Washington, D.C. groups are backing JLT, as governor (excuse me, State Fire Baton Twirler), whose values and ideals would she be looking after? According to the numbers, it’s certainly not ours.  So far special interests have the upper hand.

And for good measure.

Baron Spins on Gas Prices, Again

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Congressman Baron HillFrom WAVE 3 in Louisville comes the latest example of Baron Hill’s craven pandering and outright misleading spin on gas prices, and why he has done nothing but weak political stunts to stop them.

This week WAVE 3 has investigated the disparity in Louisville gas prices compared to the rest of the Commonwealth. As we get results, folks on the other side of the river are just as fed up with rising prices. Indiana 9th District congressman Baron Hill says he has a plan to lower prices. WAVE 3’s Carrie Weil questioned him about it.

“If it was strictly about supply and demand, these economists I’ve talked to tell me the price of gasoline should be around 2.75 cents a gallon,” says Hill.

I’m gratified that Baron recognizes the importance of supply and demand; he has never acknowledged it before.

Perhaps someday he’ll recognize the importance of increasing supply and taking real measures to reduce demand, rather than just increase government red tape, conduct some phony Congressional show-trial investigations, sue some people (lawyer bills that will show up on your tax bill and in the price of gas), and increase taxes (which will also show up in the price of gas).

The 2.75 cents a gallon number is a typo; not even Baron is that stupid.
