Riding With The Governor

Saturday morning I got the chance to participate in a motorcycle ride with none other than Governor Mitch Daniels. The Governor arrived on his Harley, and when he arrived he took a few minutes to look at the other bikes at the rally point. There was about 20 or so bikes for the first leg of the trip - going from 79th & Fall Creek to Cicero via Lapel. Nice ride on a Saturday morning, through the Indiana country. Ahhhhh….. Just a bunch of guys out for a ride.

We stopped at the Jackson St. Cafe in Cicero, Indiana. A nice size group was there awaiting the Governor, many were donning their green “My Man Mitch” t-shirts. The Governor met lots of people just coming in for breakfast, and several just walking through the town square in Cicero. Just as we were heading back to our bikes, a group of ladies were standing at the stoplight on SR19 collecting for American Cancer Society. I put a handful of change in their bucket.

Governor Daniels and Republican Riders

We left Cicero and headed westbound towards Frankfort. Just outside Frankfort we were met by a State Police escort and escorted through the traffic lights on SR28 in Frankfort. The Governor and his riding posse arrived at the Hot Dog festival about 10:30 or so. I said my adieus and left to head to IMS and try to catch NASCAR qualifying. I didn’t make it back to Indy in time to see it so I went on home.

It’s always a great ride when you get to ride with The Guv.
