Interesting Observation Of HD94

I was sent a scan of a campaign flyer of Cherrish Pryor, Democrat candidate for HD94, and being the political hack I am I looked it over carefully. At first glance it seemed to be broad generalities. Upon closer examination I see that a lot of items listed as her “issues” were the exact issues put out by her Republican challenger Chad Miller. Is Cherrish Pryor so devoid of ideas she finds it necessary to find inspiration for her ideas from her opponent?

Keep in mind, Chad Miller had his website out there with much of this material posted near the time of the primary in May.

“Improving Our Quality of Life”

I see she puts “make taxes fair and predictable” as one of her issues. Does that fairness and predictability include a 65% increase in the County Option Income Tax she voted for while a City-County Councilor?

“Good Jobs, Local Development”

Cherrish Pryor “wants to create opportunities to keep the next generation of Hoosiers at home” - that is stopping the Brain Drain and “cut the red tape for building and redevelopment projects”

Found on Chad Miller’s website - “[W]e need to attract and bring more high tech and better paying jobs to Indianapolis and I would work with the governor to make this a reality, thus eliminating the “Brain Drain”.  I also support making it easier for people to start their own businesses and getting funding and education to do so, thus empowering them to build their own dreams and help keep the economy moving.”

“Reforming Our Government”

Cherrish Pryor’s flyer includes being in favor of “common sense proposals” that “streamline and consolidate government services” and there are “too many taxing units”. She favors working towards “reform that leads to more efficient … government”.

From Chad Miller’s website - “While I agree that some areas of government are redundant. I think we should look at these carefully and not rush into this any type of consolidation … I believe that the Kernan-Shepard Report … was an excellent look at where we need to consolidate because having over three thousand different government entities with taxing ability is clearly uncalled for.”

and

“We need to bring our state system of government into the twenty-first century without constituent or civil service shortfalls and not keep it in the mid nineteenth century.”

When your not-so-humble correspondent emailed Chad Miller about this flyer, he was “surprised” to find Ms. Pryor agreeing with many of his ideas. So why vote for someone who just says it like Cherrish Pryor, when you can vote for someone who will do it in Chad Miller?
