Baron Really Does Have Something to Hide: “Don’t Tape Me Bro!” Town Hall Release Changed
Yesterday, I blogged about Baron Hill’s efforts to muzzle any Hoosier that wanted to record his upcoming town hall event in Seymour.
Baron’s restrictions were so absurd that they even drew a rare (and very pointed) press release from the 9th District Republican Chairman.
When you’re a representative from southern Indiana and decide to blatantly copy Nancy Pelosi (who is presently preventing cameras from recording House Republicans on the House floor), you should expect someone to sit up and take notice.
Given the flack Baron was getting, I wasn’t surprised to come home from work and find that he and his staff had decided to play George Orwell with the press release and remove the line about no taping.
They deleted the old press release from the front page, and replaced it with this one instead, which conveniently leaves off the line about no recording.
No word is said about whether the ban on recording itself has been lifted; the mention of it has simply been erased and flushed down the memory hole.
War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength, we have always been at war with Eurasia, and Baron Hill has never told a lie or misled anyone.
But the questions must be asked regardless of Baron’s efforts to cover up what his press release said.
What does Baron Hill have to hide?
(Read more after the leap)
Is this “don’t tape me bro!” policy something new?
Will it be in effect regardless of its removal from the press release?
Has it been in effect before?
If so, since when? If so, why?
Why was it instituted in this case?
Why was it instituted at all if it was instituted earlier?
Maybe one of the “accredited media” at Baron’s town hall tomorrow will ask the Congressman these and other serious questions, including things like:
Why did he vote four times against drilling in ANWR?
Why does he still oppose drilling in ANWR?
Why did he vote against better fuel economy standards years ago (when it would have made a difference today)?
Why did he vote against funding the troops when they are fighting in a war he voted to start?
Why did he vote against wiretapping terrorists?
Why has he voted for higher taxes on energy?
And why has he endorsed a far-left candidate for president, Barack Obama, when his district voted overwhelmingly for the other candidate?
Now, as to the rewriting of history with regard to the press release, I sort of expected it.
That’s why I saved a copy of the press release and took a screenshot of it yesterday (click to enlarge):

And, for good measure, here is the press release after its edit (click to enlarge):

After some further searching, I even found that the original press release was still available online at its original location, even though the old version is not accessible from Baron’s main page, his press release listing, or anywhere else on his website.
A rather sloppy cover up, no?
And as for the motivations for the change, I am sure that it has nothing to do with these two visits to Hoosier Pundit by folks using House of Representatives computers this morning (click to enlarge the screenshots):

Again, I ask the question:
What does Baron Hill have to hide?
Hopefully someone at this town hall of his tomorrow will ask him.
