What strikes me as I think through Bayh's career is just how shallow this guy is. He has tried to run for President himself a couple of times--never getting any traction. My guess is that personally he is somewhat blue dogish, but he seems to morph into whatever might help him. I mean he was in the tank for Hillary first, and now he is singing Obama's praises. He was for the war--one of the strongest supporters among the Democrats--and now he is talking about how bad it was from the start. This pattern went back a long way in his national career. It may hurt us here in Indiana, but my suspicion is that it will not help Obama nationally. I am not quite sure that Bayh is a good choice, though I certainly think it will make Indiana closer.
