Egads! Two time gold medal Olympians Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh actually thank President Bush after their victory against the Chinese on live tv…much to NBC’s chagrin.
A palate cleanser by popular request; you’ll remember our heroines here from the Butt-Pat That Wasn’t. The official Olympics site has highlights of the match but this snippet had to be rescued from oblivion by Tivo. Exit question: Good lord — don’t they know who runs this network now?

Wow, that’s awesome. Your pet evangelical president has trashed our economy, shredded the constitution, killed thousands with his mismanagement of the war in Iraq, and has 65% of Americans disapproving of his conduct in office… but by god he inspired those ladies to win gold in beach volleyball! What an accomplishment. I imagine it will be the centerpiece of his presidential library, you should all be so proud.
