JOEMENTUM!?

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

From Hot Air:

Andrea Mitchell told Matthews on Hardball about an hour ago that she had it on “very good authority” that Bayh and Kaine have already been told it’s not them and that, barring some rabbit-out-of-the-hat Hillary pick, it’s probably Biden.

Is that really happening? After a week of excruciating suspense, the big revelation is Joe Hairplugs?

Somebody get a suicide watch on Brian Howey and the folks at One North Capitol if this is true…

“The Middle East is hopeful. There is hope there.”
- Joe Biden

“Let’s just be smart this time. I’m looking for smart.”
- Joe Biden

“People ask if I can compete with the money of Hillary and Barack. I hope at the end of the day, they can compete with my ideas and my experience.”
- Joe Biden

“I think I have a much higher I.Q. than you do.”
- Joe Biden

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American. Who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy? I mean! That’s a storybook, man!”
- Joe Biden

Please, pretty please…

Bumper Stickers Give it Away?!?

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Drudge is reporting that a company in Kansas City is printing mass quantities of Obama/Bayh bumper stickers. Also, I read yesterday that Susan Bayh got her hair cut and is telling neighbors to watch out for the media trucks. Enough of the speculation. Let’s get this over with.

UPDATE 1 (By Mike): Drudge Headline: “MSNBC: Bayh, Kaine have been informed they are not it…

Amanda Banks interviews Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi on this week’s edition of Indiana Right to Life’s “Real Talk, Real Issues” radio program. Brizzi digs into the inadequate “feticide” law in Indiana that declares viable life begins at 7 months in the womb.  You can listen to the interview below.   This is a law that desperately needs fixed as explained by Brizzi in the interview.

A Tale of Some Houses

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

The folks in the seats on the left seem to be delighting in John McCain’s answer to a question about how many houses he owns.

Jim Geraghty at the Campaign Spot had an excellent musing in response:

I Mean, It’s Not Like There’s a Map of What McCain Was Asked

Obama is running his ad on John McCain’s confusion on how many houses he has.

My understanding is that this ad will be running in all 57 states.

It turns out that McCain doesn’t own any houses (hence why he referred the question to his wife, who does).

But Geraghty’s point was a salient one; a candidate that cannot count the number of states in the Union over which he wants to be president should not be casting stones over mere houses.

But as pithy as that response was, it paled in comparison to the McCain campaign’s response:

Schools, Special Education, and Choice

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

A little piece of news hit yesterday about a family in the Hamilton Southeastern school district that is fighting to get the school system to put their child in both AM and PM sessions of Kindergarten. Many of the fact of the case are reported in the Indy Star today. As a bit of background, this is the world of special education which is a complex combination of Federal requirements, state requirements and local implementation.

This child, in this case, has been identified as a child in need of special services. he has speech, memory, and behavioral problems. The parents would like for him to go through both the AM and PM Kindergarten program. Just to be clear, this is not “full day” Kindergarten–he would receive the exact same instruction twice in the same day. Without knowing the specifics of the child’s situation, this seems to be a very reasonable service plan to me for the Kindergarten year. The school system, while admitting that the child needs services, do not agree that this is the right approach.

Linda Pence Gets Lefty Love from Daily Kos

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Just think, they’re all so smart and interesting…

I guess that makes everyone else so stupid and boring…

Isn’t it funny how people who are smart and interesting invariably turn out to be Democrats? That was the reaction I had when I found out that Linda Pence was the Democratic candidate for Attorney General of Indiana.

Let me say a couple of disclaimers right off. I’m not from Indiana. I don’t know what the issues are in this race. I don’t know anything about what’s going on in this campaign.

But I do know Linda Pence. I’ve known her as a lawyer for many years. She is really smart and tough as nails. She just seems like the kind of lawyer’s lawyer any state would want to have as its Attorney General.

I never really knew anything about her partisan political affiliations until I recently found out she was running as a Democrat for the Indiana AG. Again, all I knew was that she is a great lawyer and a smart, funny, and interesting person. It should have been obvious that she was a Democrat.

She’s no relation to the right-wing nutjob Mike Pence who is a Congressperson in Indiana. And I see that the Wall Street Journal recently took a swipe at her for being a “trial lawyer” who would be tough on corporations. Sounds like a pretty good endorsement to me.

Anybody who is in Indiana should know that they’ve got a great AG candidate in their state.

Only lefty crazies would think that a trial lawyer with a reputation for defending corrupt Democrats would make a good attorney general.

Now, I haven’t posted much about Linda Pence lately (something for which I intend to remedy soon with yet more information on her shadiness), but let’s review her record for a bit.
