I’m going to be on the Abdul in the Morning show on 1430am WXNT tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 7:50am to talk about Democrat National Convention and give the Republican perspective of the events. Check it out!
It’s before Labor Day, and Baron Hill has his first campaign ad of the season out. I saw it twice last night on Fox News (which is pretty surprising in and of itself).
Let’s just say that the ad, while ostensibly positive, is about as disingenuous as any run in the 9th District in any prior race.

First of all, let me say that Baron has a remarkably empty and uncluttered desk for a member of Congress who has supposedly been so busy for the past 19 or so months.

Senator Obama has run ads here in Indiana talking about his relationship with Senator Lugar, which is a positive one. Despite what some may think (about me), I believe that reaching and working across the aisle is a good thing. I think that’s pretty obvious with my working with Jen Wagner with the blog Stop Governing Like This. But apparently, Senator Obama forgot to tell Senator Lugar that Lugar was advising him on issues of foreign policy.
Given the story in Friday’s USA Today that said US Senator Barack Obama told a Virginia audience that Senators Chuck Hagel and Dick Lugar would advise him on foreign policy, Fort Wayne Observed asked Mark Helmke, a member of Dick Lugar’s foreign policy team, for a comment.
Mr. Helmke replied to FWOb from Ghana:
Lugar has no role in the Obama campaign and will have no role. He supports McCain and has made that clear.
Obama says he respect’s Lugar’s counsel, and has since he first reached out to Lugar in late 2004 after he was elected. Obama asked Lugar to brief him on Nunn-Lugar issues and Lugar did take Obama on a trip to Russian weapons sites in 2005.
Did you read that? Helmke replied from Ghana to clear this up. That’s more than just a “woops!” moment. Like I said before, the next couple of months are going to be fun.
Republican Candidate for Supt. of Public Instruction Tony Bennett and Republican Attorney General Candidate Greg Zoeller kicked off a two-day media tour in Fort Wayne this morning at the Conservative Breakfast Club to reaffirm the Governor’s message of restoring discipline in the classroom. Zoeller and Bennett addressed media and 47 CBC guests at the largest Monday morning breakfast to date.
For more information about how Bennett and Zoeller will work with the Governor to restore discipline in the classroom, see the press release from the Zoeller campaign below. I will post the Bennett press release shortly.
