Little Known Facts about Sarah Palin

Friday, August 29th, 2008

These are too funny.  They’re in the motif of the Chuck Norris parody sites.  Here are few, then check out the rest or here:

Little Known Fact: Sarah Palin keeps her hair in a beehive to hide her ninja weaponry.

Little Known Fact: Sarah Palin will personally open a homemade can of whoopa** on Ahmadinejad as soon as she’s done making PBJ for her kids.

Little Known Fact: It’s not raining in DC. Those are God’s tears of joy that McCain picked Sarah Palin.

Little Known Fact: Sarah Palin could not find a good man, so her husband was constructed from the DNA of Washington, Lee, and Genghis Khan.

Little Known Fact: Sarah Palin personally hog-tied two reps from Planned Parenthood who came knocking at her door.

Sarah Palin: She’s tough. She’s pretty. She’s smart, and she hunts Moose

palin.jpgSince the overwhelming majority of Americans are not even sure where Alaska is, it’s no surprise that they may not know much about the Governor, turned Veep candidate, Sarah Palin.

The daughter of a school teacher, she’s a beauty queen and star basketball player who hunted Moose with her Dad in the wee hours of the Alaskan mornings. She’s married with five kids - FIVE! She’s a small business owner and, Oh, did we mention that she’s the Chief Executive of the largest State in the Union. Plus, she has that killer “take off, ya hoser” accent that will endear her to the masses. Authentic. Most important to us: card-carrying-life-member of the NRA.

In one, quick, flip of the fillet knife (gotta love those fishing metaphors), Sarah Palin has gutted the BO/Joe campaign. We can’t wait to watch the Dems genuflect. No doubt the tortured contortions of a campaign that has just been de-nutted will be both interesting and satisfying. The schadenfreude of the moment is undeniable.

Eric Erickson on Sarah Palin:

Let’s get this out here right now. On experience: Sarah Palin runs the largest state in the nation and Barack Obama and Joe Biden combined run their mouths. That’s it in a nutshell.

Some people just have a knack for knowing just what to say and just when to say it. Sarah Palin impresses us as that kind of person. Her speech today was interesting to say the least. Husband, Todd, is our new favorite guy. He races “snow machines” (whatever that is) and we here at the WPBCHQ hope we can get him over to spin up a few concoctions and talk racin’, fishin’ and what the heck they do during those long winter nights in Alaska - um, yeah. Five kids. Dumb question.

So welcome to the fray, Sarah. Oh, and Happy Anniversary, too.

Candidates For Congress, Pucket & Sodrel, Support Palin Pick

Friday, August 29th, 2008

It wasn’t that long ago that candidates for Congress, Luke Puckett and Mike Sodrel, were up in Alaska checking out ANWR and Pruhoe Bay and campaigning on the need for independence from foreign oil.  While up there, they had a chance to meet with the Governor, now Vice Presidential running mate to John McCain, Sarah Palin.  This is what they had to say upon hearing she became Senator McCain’s choice for VP today.

Luke Puckett:

2809087388_87a4c1bd68.jpg“Today I extend my congratulations to Governor Sarah Palin on this momentous day for her, and for our party. She is an excellent pick for this position and I believe that her dedication, work-ethic, and ability to persuasively advocate for common-sense policies will be an asset to the nation. Governor Palin knows first-hand how important it is for us to increase our nation’s use of domestic oil reserves and her selection to be Senator McCain’s Vice Presidential nominee illustrates the importance of the energy issue in our national discussion.”

Mike Sodrel:

“I had the opportunity to meet with Gov. Sarah Palin on my recent trip to ANWR. I found her to be very down-to-earth and personable.

She is a person who would feel at home in Southern Indiana. She hunts and fishes, and is pro-life.

I’m proud to be on the ballot with the McCain/Palin ticket at the top. There is a clear contrast between McCain/Palin/Sodrel and Obama/Biden/Hill when it comes to the future for our children and grandchildren.”

Lt. Gov Skillman Responds to Palin Announcement

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Becky Skillman issued the following statement upon hearing of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin being chosen as Senator McCain’s VP choice:

Statement by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman on the selection of Governor Sarah Palin as the Republican nominee for Vice President of the United States

“I am delighted with John McCain’s choice for running mate. Governor Sarah Palin will bring with her a wealth of life experience to the White House - from serving as a popular and effective leader of Alaska to balancing her personal life as a wife and mother. She is a reformer and a public servant that Hoosier women, and all Hoosiers, can relate to.”

Multiple Sources Confirm Palin as McCain’s VP

Friday, August 29th, 2008

palin_sarah.jpgPolitico.com, Fox News, CNBC among others are reporting and confirming that Senator McCain has chosen Republican Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, to be his Veep choice.  Finally, a woman has a chance to be on a winning presidential ticket (yeah, like Mondale/Ferraro actually had a chance of beating Reagan in 1984)!

More about Sarah Palin:

Sarah Heath Palin (born February 11, 1964) is the current Governor of Alaska, and a member of the Republican Party. She is the youngest and first female governor of Alaska. Brought to statewide attention because of her whistleblowing on ethical violations by state Republican Party leaders, she won election in 2006 by first defeating the incumbent governor in the Republican primary, then a former Democratic Alaskan governor in the general election.

More on Palin can be found here. Once her official state bio from Alaska stops crashing from all the traffic, I’ll update this post with that one instead.

I’ll be honest that I wasn’t excited for McCain to be the Republican nominee, but the choice of Palin to be his VP energizes me about this ticket!

*Update* - Here is the McCain presser on the choice of Sarah Palin. (H/T to Media Lizzy)

Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.

Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us – Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.

In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the “bridge to nowhere” that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.

As the head of Alaska’s National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.

Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.

The Speech of the Obamassiah

Friday, August 29th, 2008

I have to admit, I didn’t watch it. I took a nap instead, and couldn’t be bothered to wake up until the confetti was in the air, the fireworks were going off, the cheesy music was playing, and the angels were descending from on high.

It seems to have gotten mixed reviews. Power Line has an amusing minute-by-minute breakdown. Among the highlights:
