She’s At It Again…

*Update from Josh* - Dan Tierney informed me that the Marion County GOP requested a list that Beth White said she had of all those who received the wrong absentee ballots. Shockingly, they were all Hard or soft Rs (or Unidentifieds living with Hard or Soft Rs), and the list didn’t have all the people who received wrong ballots, so there’s more out there.  The ineptness of Beth White exceeds any form of understanding.

Indiana’s favorite County Clerk (that is if you’re a Democrat) Beth White once again shows off her excellent election operation skills.

Last night on Fox 59 there was a piece about absentee voters receiving the wrong ballot. The Marion County GOP Chairman was shown analyzing an absentee ballot, but no sound bite was included in the story so we don’t know what he had to say about the matter. Apparently voters in Teresa Lubbers district received the wrong ballot because they notice Ms. Lubbers was not on the ticket. If they weren’t vigilant in checking the ballot, the ballot would be rejected once it was received at the polling place on Election Day as a bad ballot.

Folks, this happened to me last year prior to the 2007 Municipal Election. As usual, I had an election job to do outside my home precinct so I voted absentee. I received my ballot and noticed the Council district was for District 9, instead of District 5 where I lived at the time. Turns out the Clerk’s office sent me the wrong ballot. I ended up doing a “vote early” in the Clerk’s Office. Of course being the political hack I am I’ll crawl over gravel to cast my straight ticket GOP vote. But what about Joe Sixpack that votes only on sunny days, doesn’t wholly understand the entire process end to end, and doesn’t typically go anywhere near the City-County Building?

BTW, Are you going to vote “YES” on the public question on the back of your ballot in Marion County (except Decatur Township)?

  1. The clip I just heard on WIBC is that “only” 18 ballots have been found to be wrong so far.

Makes you wish for Doris Anne Sadler.

  2. Here is the press release from the Marion County GOP in regards to voters getting the wrong ballots:

VOTERS SHOULD BE VIGILANT IN CHECKING ABSENTEE BALLOTS

GOP receiving widespread complaints from all over area

INDIANAPOLIS-Numerous Marion County voters have received absentee ballots for races outside their districts, possibly endangering the votes of countless Indianapolis residents.

Marion County Republicans released information regarding several reported instances of persons receiving the wrong absentee ballots. John held a press conference in front of the home of Eric Eichholtz, who lives next to Senator Teresa Lubbers, but received a ballot containing another State Senate District.

“I am very concerned that voters may not realize they are receiving the wrong ballots, and in turn will never have the chance to cast their intended vote for Congress or the State Legislature,” said Senator Lubbers. “We need to bring attention to this so voters can check their ballots before they are returned.”

John encouraged all voters voting absentee to double check their absentee ballots before returning them to the Marion County Clerk.

“It is of the upmost importance that voters be vigilant in protecting their rote to vote,” said John. “Given these troubling errors, every voter voting absentee should double check which precinct and legislative districts they should vote in and make sure the ballot they were provided matches.”

John also expressed concern that Marion County election officials had not come forward with this information on their own accord.

“I am deeply disappointed and troubled by Beth White’s silence to the voters,” John said. “Voters have the right to know their votes may be jeopardized, and White has a duty to inform them that she may be disenfranchising them.”

(Please contact Dan Tierney at dtierney@indygop.com for copies of the list provided by the Clerk’s office office of persons given wrong ballots, or for sample copies of wrong ballots sent to voters).
