Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Mitch Daniels has an opponent in the general election this year. What with JLT having not been on tv with advertisements since late September and the fact that no new ideas to continue Indiana’s growth have crossed her lips and with her polls numbers consistently having her down in double digits (save for polls put out by the media….hmmmm…I’m not claiming any bias here, I just think they need a tight race to keep ratings up).
But one group decided that the Governor’s race was so important to the State of Indiana, that they were willing to make an endorsement in a state wide race for the first time in their 86 year history. Today, the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce endorsed Mitch Daniels to serve Indiana for another term.
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the state’s largest broad-based business association, today announced its endorsement of Republican Mitch Daniels for governor. This marks the first time in the Chamber’s 86-year history that it has publicly endorsed a gubernatorial candidate.
“This was a decision we didn’t enter into lightly, but ultimately we felt that given the current, difficult economic times, we needed to make what is for us a historic stance with the governor’s race,” offers Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar.

I thought it was Joe Biden’s job to remind voters why it’s a good idea to vote for Barack Obama, not to scare them by saying if he’s elected America will be in the sights of our enemies.
*Updated with audio*
“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”
And Joe, who might be generating these crises?

Florida’s Bay News 9 reports:
“A Clearwater man’s vehicle that displayed a bumper sticker supporting John McCain has been defaced in what appears to be a hate crime, authorities say.
According to authorities, 41-year-old Frank Armstrong’s 2006 Lexus LS 430 was parked on the 1400 block of Gulf Boulevard when someone or a group of people scratched the letters “KKK” into the paint and burned a U.S. Flag on the vehicle.
Authorities say those involved also used cigarettes to burn several areas of the car and apparently urinated on the car.
Armstrong’s vehicle displayed a bumper sticker supporting the McCain campaign and another that was anti-Barack Obama leading investigators to believe the crime was racially or politically motivated.
No witnesses or surveillance video have been found”
Over the Weekend, the Cleveland Plain Dealer came out with its endorsement of That One for President. Go figure - it’s the hometown newspaper of none other than Dennis “The Menace” K00kcinich. Who by the way recently ran a fundraising campaign claiming the GOP was running a “million dollar campaign to defeat him”. Unfortunately for us, FEC reports state otherwise.
In another development, the Dallas Morning News has endorsed John McCain for President. In its endorsement it writes:

You know the routine. Fred Sanford clutches his chest and look upwards as he scream “Hear that ‘Lizabeth? I’m coming to join ya honey!”
Well, that’s about the reaction I had when I saw the Ryerson Rag actually endorsed the Republican candidate for Southern Indiana’s 9th Congressional District.
From the Rag:

So if McCain’s reference to Joe the Plumber is desperation, what is this?
From a reader in Lynchburg, Virginia:
FYI—just a few moments ago I received an automated call at home from “Joe the Plumber” asking me to vote for O’Bama. He referred to the talk about Joe the Plumber in the debate—obviously trying to have me link “Joe Sellers (I think that’s the name), a plumber from Falls Church, Virginia” with the Joe the Plumber everyone is talking about. Easy to think ‘Hey, Joe the Plumber wants us to vote for O’Bama.’
Dishonest? Yes. But about what you’d expect out of Washington.
Sounds like desperation to me.
Just desperation from a different campaign than McCain’s.
