“State and local officials are investigating if state and law-enforcement computer systems were illegally accessed when they were tapped for personal information about “Joe the Plumber.”
Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher’s driver’s license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate.
Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department.
It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why. Direct access to driver’s license and vehicle registration information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business.
Paul Lindsay, Ohio spokesman for the McCain campaign, attempted to portray the inquiries as politically motivated. “It’s outrageous to see how quickly Barack Obama’s allies would abuse government power in an attempt to smear a private citizen who dared to ask a legitimate question,” he said.
The attorney general’s office is investigating if the access of Wuzelbacher’s BMV information through the office’s Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway computer system was unauthorized, said spokeswoman Jennifer Brindisi.
“We’re trying to pinpoint where it came from,” she said. The investigation could become “criminal in nature,” she said. Brindisi would not identify the account that pulled the information on Oct. 16.
From the most ethical Congress *evah* comes the most ethical presidential administration *evah*.
How dare someone in the media actually do their job and question the Obamassiah! Didn’t this reporter know she was supposed to let Joe off easy and not ask any tough questions? Well, Joe get’s pretty testy about it and then questions who wrote her questions for her. Stay classy Joe. Stay classy.
But wait! There’s more!
The Obama campaign has officially cut off WFTV from any future interviews or events!

Here’s the latest from the NRCC:
Mike Montagano: Who’s Your (Sugar) Daddy?
Candidate Can’t Explain House, Car, Cash27 year-old Mike Montagano can’t explain his $326,000 home, new Hummer H3, or the $33,500 he gave to his campaign while having no job and modest savings. Under fire for possible violations of campaign finance laws, the Congressional candidate isn’t taking questions from reporters.
A complaint filed yesterday with the Federal Election Commission notes that Joe Montagano appears to have purchased a home for son Mike on July 12, 2007. Three months later, dad and Mike jointly took out a mortgage for $226,000. Joe then paid Mike’s $716 property tax bill in November, all while serving as his campaign Treasurer.
According to WPTA-TV Channel 21 in Fort Wayne, “We tried to reach Montagano, and were told he was unavailable campaigning.” The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette reported, “Montagano did not return a request for an interview.”
That’s not a surprise, coming from a candidate who called the financial rescue package in Congress “the biggest piece of legislation in my lifetime” but refused to take a position on the bill. Time and again, Montagano has been unwilling to answer tough questions on the campaign trail.
“Election Day is approaching and voters still have no answers about how Montagano bankrolled his campaign and lifestyle with more money than he had to his name,” said NRCC spokesman Brendan Buck. “What voters do know is that Montagano apparently violated the law by accepting wildly excessive contributions. Instead of hiding in his subsidized home, he owes the people of Indiana an explanation.”
On Monday at noon, we will be announcing a unique and special partnership for election night for coverage on the web like you’ve never seen before!
Yesterday Mike posted a video of Fred Thompson giving us a simple breakdown of the candidates we have before us for president. Today, we show his wife Jeri defending Sarah Palin against these stupid attacks about the clothes she wears when we actually have issues to discuss. Basically, she points out how dumb the question is that Colmes asks.
That Thompson pair makes a good team.
