Indiana national committeewoman Dee Dee Benkie has endorsed Katon Dawson for RNC chairman. I’m hoping for a quote or something from her about the reasoning.
Personally, I like Dawson (and I’ve blogged as much). I’m just still worried about the whole country club thing (which seems to have died a swift death, but could I worry be resurrected by a hostile media) being used against him. There’s also the whole “southern face on a regionalized Republican Party” angle, but that’s far less troubling with Tim Kaine heading up the DNC.
As for Indiana’s other two RNC members, Murray Clark hasn’t weighed in that I know of, and Jim Bopp is generally considered to be in the Duncan camp (but hasn’t said publicly one way or the other, at least that I know of).
Their contact information (for the umpteenth time) remains:
Chair – Murray Clark – murray.clark@bakerd.com
Member – James Bopp Jr. – jboppjr@aol.com
Member – Dee Dee Benkie – deedeegop@aol.com
