A Couple Things to Note…

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I want to alert you guys to a couple of blogs up in Howard County that deserved your much coveted attention. First of all we have Mallot’s Blog. This guy hits the point, but is funny at the same time. Secondly, we have “Right Thinking“. He currently has a pretty interesting political quiz up on his blog right now. You’ll be surprised at some of the answers.

Also, since we’re promoting other conservative blogs from around the state, I want to encourage those of you who are on Facebook and haven’t signed up to sign up for the Official Hoosier Facebook Group. Good stuff going on there! Also, make sure to subscribe to our RSS feed, either by email or the traditional way.

And thanks for keeping on coming by to check Hoosier Access!

(If you want, use this as an open thread)

A Change in Our House Rules

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

devo.jpgA quick note to everyone, who visits and would like to leave a comment. Because of the craziness that’s occurred over the weekend in one of the posts below, and because I think it’s a cop out to “comment and run” we’ve changed the commenting feature. From now on, if you want to leave a comment on Hoosier Access, you will have to register with the site. This may affect how many comments we get at first, but I’m sure it’s something we can all get used to.

I know that vast majority of the people who leave comments are actually leaving worthwhile, engaging and conversation pursuing comments, but sometimes a few people can abuse a simple privilege and ruin it for the rest of us. I’m sorry we had to do this, but we at Hoosier Access want to keep our house a clean house with thought provoking conversation and not teenage-like ramblings. We don’t want our comment section to turn into the comment section of the IndyStar or like TDW when Jen was still around.

No more anonymous comments, no more subject titles as names and hopefully, no more comment hit and runs.

Thank you for coming to Hoosier Access and we hope you will agree with our changes.

Umm, Why Is Hoosier Access Taking Forever to Load?

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Very astute of you fair reader. I too was wondering why Hoosier Access wasn’t loading. The unfortunate thing is, our webmaster is in China. Taking a chance, I emailed him considering that it’s evening over there. I got an immediate response! (Yes, he’s that good!) Turns out some files or what not are being moved around on our server. Here’s what he sent me.

A Little Redecorating

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Here at Hoosier Access we’re looking at ways to improve our site. We want to make it more enjoyable and a more user friendly site for you, our readers. So you may have noticed a few changes over on the far right hand side of the site since the last time you were here. We’ve changed and added new icons for our RSS feed (sign up for Hoosier Access in your inbox!), check out our video archive and subscribe for our podcasts on iTunes which include bonus material not included here on Hoosier Access! And because we love the social networks here at HA, join our Facebook group. Also, we moved the Tip Line higher so in case you may not have seen it before.

Our goal was to clear up some of the clutter and we hoped we’ve accomplished that, but you guys are the judges. So here’s my question to you dear reader, what do you think of the new icons/changes? Give us your feedback.

Continuing To Grow By Leaps and Bounds

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Hoosier Access started back in August as the newest alternative in conservative blogging. In January, we launched Hoosier Access Radio and have interviewed Congressional candidates Jon Elrod and Sean Shepard from the 7th CD, John McGoff in the 5th, State Rep. Candidates Adam Nelson and Chris Swatts as well as sitting elected officials in Congressman Dan Burton, State Representative Cindy Noe, and Mayor Greg Ballard.

In March, Hoosier Access joins Facebook! We have launched the Hoosier Access Facebook group and I encourage all of our readers to join!

It’s just our next step as we continue to see Hoosier Access grow as the number one conservative new media outlet in Indiana. There’s more in the works for the future. This is going to be an incredible year! We hope to see you here and on Facebook!

Something Borrowed Something New

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

In an effort to continue building up the quality of Hoosier Access we have just added a new feature to the site. We have installed a tip line below the Recent Comments Section for news and events from around the state. It’s similar to what the Drudge Report uses. Anything submitted will be done so anonymously.

We hope that this tool will help keep the content fresh, but also give you, our readers, a chance to feel more involved in our website. You can send us news links to newspapers from around the state, give us a heads up on something occurring down at the State House, or something that’s happening on the campaign trail.

(If you would like to send us a press release, please send it through our contact form)

Please use it discretely and know that all tips will be checked for accuracy. We’re not a tabloid site, searching for muck to rake like some other blogs out there.

We hope you enjoy our newest feature.

A Few Updates Worth Mentioning

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

As you may have noticed, there a few new additions and a change to Hoosier Access. To our immediate right, we have added a link to Jim Banks’ announcement that he’s running for County Council in Whitley County. In that post you will find a way to donate to Jim’s campaign. Please consider supporting Jim, who is a fellow Director and contributor to HA, in his run.

Also, we’ve added the Republican delegate counter to keep you apprised of the latest in the Republican Presidential primary fight. (H/T to GOP Grunt and Circle City Pundit for the idea) Why no Democrat counter? We’re Republicans and we care about our own primary. (Right now the near death of the Republican party is in the hands of Romney, McCain and Huckabee)

In a few days you will also notice that we’ve added Google Ads.

But the biggest change that will impact you as a reader of and feed subscriber to Hoosier Access is that we are switching to Feed Burner to host our feeds. That change will come later on Sunday night. Please make a note of it. The new RSS link will be: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Hoosieraccess

I hope you enjoy all of our changes and additions.

Site Upgrades

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Merry Christmas to all!

Hoosier Access will be undergoing some site upgrades over the next 24 hours. We hope it will not take too long and the site interruptions will be minimal.

Thanks for your continued support!

My Interview on Abdul in the Morning

Monday, November 12th, 2007

As you know, I was able to be a guest on Abdul in the Morning on WXNT last week. For those of you who didn’t get to hear it, get ready to bask in some blogger punditry goodness!

Thanks to Abdul’s producer, Chris Spangle, for the invitation to be a part of the morning show.

Website Brown Outs

Monday, September 17th, 2007

We apologize for the trouble our website has had today. Our provider has been having some serious trouble of which I could bore you with the details, but frankly as non-technical as I am, I can’t even understand it. We hope that the situation has been resolved, if not by now hopefully very soon. Thanks for bearing with us.

Technical Difficulties Got Us Down!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

It’s just after 5:00pm and the site is finally back up! I apologize if you tried to get your daily dose of Hoosier Access and couldn’t. I wish I could tell you what exactly happened and why (none of us know), but since the site has been down Virginia Senator John Warner has announced he’s retired, Idaho Senator Larry Craig may resign and Fred Thompson has announced that he’s going to announce that he’s going to announce that he’s intending to run for President (a little joke there. I’m personally a Fred Head though I do not speak for the rest of my fellow Directors). So in light of the fact that we’ve approached the Labor Day weekend and it’s after 5:00 (meaning anyone who wanted to check the site today during work hours is gone) consider this post an open thread!

By the way it’s been a few weeks since we’ve heard from her (shocking I know) but enjoy this Cindy Sheehan “campaign” ad.

Live from Indianapolis, It’s Hoosier Access!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Just in case you didn’t hear about it (and I’m sure that you have) the Midwest Republican Leadership Conference is going to be in Indy this weekend and Hoosier Access is going to be there! We will be live blogging from the different events going on all weekend. We are also working in conjunction with RepublicansRadio.com to bring you live audio and maybe even video interviews with various elected officials and candidates from around the state. We are currently working to get interviews with the Presidential candidates, both announced and unannounced, but we can’t promise anything yet.

We will be opening the comments section to you, our readers, to pose questions that we can ask the candidates, state and federal, so that we can touch on the topics that are of most importance to Hoosiers. You can pose them here in this post. We cannot guarantee that all questions will be asked. We will only accept real and thoughtful questions. A list of which candidates we will be able to talk to will be available later this week.

Be sure to check back here daily for updates as we prepare for this important event this weekend!

Update: So far we will exclusive interviews with Congressman Dan Burton (R - IN, 5th District) and House Minority Leader Rep. Brian Bosma (R - Indianapolis, District 88). More announcements to come!

Update #2: Be listening to RepublicansRadio.com as tomorrow you’ll get to hear interviews with Congressman Steve Buyer (R - IN, 4th District), State Treasurer Richard Mourdock and State Superintendent Dr. Suellen Reed. Keep checking back as we hope to announce some Presidential candidate interviews.

Update #3: Rumor has it that Presidential candidates Congressmen Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo will be attending the MRLC. If that’s true, Hoosier Access will work to get a few moments with both of them. The other rumor is that Hizzonor Rudy Giuliani might show up at the MRLC. If so, Hoosier Access will be there too! There will be plenty of other surprises to come too! Check back for more information!
